چکیده
Fingerlings of fishes are very sensitive to a wide variety of toxicants in water and effects of metals. The toxicity of pollutants can be assessed by the extent of histopathological damage to the concentration of the pollutant. In the present study an attempt is made to the impact of aquatic and industrial effluent. Histological analysis of gill and liver revealed the significant morphological alterations such as gill and liver of fish, Cyprinus carpio. Since fishes are the chief sources of nutrition to many parts of the world and their inhabitations are not exceptional from the pollution point of view, the fresh water fish, Cyprinus carpio has been selected as a test species for the present investigation. Moreover fishes are vulnerable especially to the accumulation of abnormal levels of metals in their bodies. Hence, the present study is aimed to understand the mode of toxic action of metals on the non target field fishes like Cyprinus carpio, the metal chosen was Chromium. Fishes were brought from fisheries department, Tirupati, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. KEY WORDS; Chromium, Gill, Liver, Cyprinus carpio

Histopathological effects of acute copper sulphate exposure on kidney, liver and gill of common carp, Cyprinus carpio, fingerlings
In the present study histological effects of copper sulphate on, 180 common carp, Cyprinus carpio, fingerlings were studied. In this regard, fish of treatment groups were exposed to 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 ppm of copper sulphate during 4 days. Behaviours and clinical signs of fish were recorded during the experiment, and samples were done from kidney, liver and gill of moribund and fresh dead fish, a...

Acute toxicity and effects of sublethal concentrations of oxadiargyl herbicide (3% EC) were examined on DNA damage (Comet assay) and histopathological changes in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fingerlings with average weight and length of 19.15±1.05 g and 10.09±0.47 cm, respectively. The fish were exposed to 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 mg/L of the herbicide for 30 days. Estimated 96-h LC50 value for oxadia...

Cu is an essential micronutrient which is found in either water environment or fish diet. In addition, copper sulfate is an effective algaecide for algal control in fish pond. Therefore, toxicity test seems to be necessary to predict the safe concentrations of chemicals in the environment. The experiments were conducted to study of mortality rate of acute toxicity of Copper (CuSO4) in Common Ca...

Toxicity of the herbicides like 2, 4-D NA salt, glyphosate and paraquat were tested, fish was investigated in laboratory and toxicity tested with common carp. Median lethal concentrations were determined in acute tests. The 96 h LC50 value was 100, 86 and 26 mg/L were tested. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with four replications. Screening of different herbicides was t...

Accidental industrial spills may lead to a high concentration of toxic metals in the aquatic environment, as well as affecting freshwater ecosystems with acute and chronic toxicity. Of all aquatic species, fish are particularly sensitive to waterborne contamination and are recognized as bioindicators for water quality monitoring. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the biochemica...
